KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Lafayette men's basketball senior forward Dan Trist was selected as a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 13 Second Team, the organization announced Friday.
Trist, a Sydney, Australia native, finished the season second in the Patriot League in scoring at 17.3 points per game, his highest point total in his four seasons on College Hill. The senior dropped in 18 points and ripped down nine rebounds in Lafayette's final game of the year, a second-round loss to top-seeded Villanova in the NCAA Tournament.
With 1,491 total points in his four years on College Hill, Trist sits seventh on Lafayette's all-time scoring list. Additionally, he and classmates Seth Hinrichs and Joey Ptasinski, were the first trio of 1,000-point scorers in Lafayette history to play on the same team this season.
One of two unanimous All-Patriot League First-Team selections, Trist was third in the conference rankings in offensive rebounds at 2.2 per contest and fourth in both field-goal percentage (57.6%) and overall rebounding (6.7 rpg). His field-goal percentage ranks 17th nationally.
Finishing his Lafayette career this spring with a degree in Economics, Trist tallied three consecutive double-double's midway through the month of February, the first Leopard to accomplish that feat since Stefan Ciosici '98 recorded three straight in January, 1997. He recorded eight of his 10 career double-double's during his senior campaign.
Trist and the Leopards recorded their first 20-win season and first NCAA Tournament berth since 1999-2000 during the 2014-15 campaign, finishing with an overall record of 20-13 and going 9-9 in conference play. Fourth-seeded Lafayette knocked off sixth-seeded American in the Patriot League championship game on March 11 at Kirby Sports Center for the Maroon and White's third League crown.
