Hinrichs, Ptasinski Selected to Academic All-League Squad

March 4, 2015

EASTON, Pa. - Senior captain Seth Hinrichs and classmate Joey Ptasinski were named to the men's basketball Academic All-Patriot League team, the league announced Wednesday. Ptasinski is the third student-athlete in Patriot League history to earn Academic All-League status for a third time.

Hinrichs, a second-year captain from Clara City, Minn., holds a 3.4 cumulative GPA as an Economics major and was second on the team in points (13.1 per game) and rebounds (5.8 per game) this season. Hinrichs was a Capital One Academic All-District II member for the second straight time this season and earns his second selection to the Academic All-Patriot League team.

Having started all 29 games for the Maroon and White this season, Hinrichs sits in the top-10 in the Patriot League rankings in free-throw percentage (1st, 86.3%), offensive rebounds (8th, 1.8 pg), total rebounds (8th, 5.8 pg), defensive rebounds (9th, 4.0 pg), scoring (10th, 13.1 pg), three-point field-goal percentage (10th, 39.0%) and blocks (10th, 0.8 pg). The senior was also selected as an All-Patriot League Third-Team member on Monday.

Ptasinski earns his third Academic All-League honor in as many eligible seasons. The sharpshooter from Highlands Ranch, Colo. carries a 3.4 GPA as a Biology major and ranks second in the Patriot League in three-point field-goal percentage, knocking down distance shots at a 45.2 percent clip. A Capital One Academic All-District II honoree a year ago, Ptasinski has dropped in 9.3 points per game this season, connecting on 46.4 percent of his overall looks from the floor. The senior also ranks in the top-10 in the Patriot League in three-pointers per game (5th, 2.4 pg) and steals (7th, 1.3 pg).

Additionally, he will likely finish in the top-five of Lafayette's all-time career three-pointers made and career three-point field-goal percentage lists when his final season comes to a close. Ptasinski holds a career 43.2 percent mark from beyond the arc and has made 243 shots from distance in his career.

Both Hinrichs and Ptasinski are 1,000-point scorers for the Maroon and White, joining classmate Dan Trist as the first trio of 1,000-point scorers in Lafayette history to play on the same team. Hinrichs sits in sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,481 career points, while Ptasinski is tied for 35th with 1,063 points during his time on College Hill.

Hinrichs, Ptasinski and the rest of the Leopards will look to make a run in the Patriot League Tournament as a four seed, hosting fifth-seeded Boston U. in the quarterfinal round on Thursday evening at Kirby Sports Center at 7 p.m.
