EASTON, Pa. -- Lafayette hosted its annual dual meet with Lehigh this morning, with the Mountain Hawks posting victories in both the men's and women's races.
Lehigh won the men's 8K race by a 50-15 final, while the Leopard women were defeated 44-19. Stephanie Benko topped all performers for the Maroon and White with a second-place result in the women's 6K event. She crossed the line in 23:34.38, just over 12 second behind race victor Shannon Wright.
The next 10 finishers behind Benko represented the Mountain Hawks, with Brigid McGill (25:03.67) the next Lafayette runner in 13th place. She was followed by Alexa Kwapinski (25:05.73), Emily Moore (25:11.64) and Mikayla Pacilio (25:13.53).
Kelvin Serem was the top finisher for the Leopard men, clocking in at 26:58.19 to wind up 12th out of 28 runners. Thomas Day (27:19.23) and Andrew Morra (27:24.27) placed 15th and 16th, respectively, while David Sadvary (27:47.17 -- 18th) and Matthew Weintraub (27:58.27 -- 19th) rounded out the top five finishers for the hosts. Lehigh's Scott Moore took first place with a time of 26:23.35.
Lafayette will next compete at the Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 2. That meet, hosted by Lehigh, will begin at 9:30 a.m.
