Sabres Steal the Show at Hunter

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Lafayette men's fencing team competed against several MACFA opponents and came out with a victory at Hunter College on Sunday morning.

The Leopards' played in multiple tightly-contested matches and ultimately grabbed a 16-11 win over Yeshiva. The sabres stole the show for the Maroon and White as freshman Ian Miller and junior Alex Gorloff both shined for the Leopards.

Miller picked up a win in 13 of his 16 bouts, including a pair of 3-0 victories against Yeshiva and NJIT. Meanwhile, Gorloff went 13-2 on the day at sabre with 3-0 bouts against Army, Yeshiva and Stevens.

Freshman Patrick Rekieta also got in the mix at sabre, helping the Leopards put points on the board by going 8-4 in his 12 bouts.

Following a narrow 5-4 victory at sabre over Hunter College, the Leopards returned to action and blanked Yeshiva 9-0. At sabre, Lafayette went on to claim a pair of 6-3 victories over Army and NJIT before capping off the day with an 8-1 win over Stevens.

The Leopards will have some time off before resuming play on Jan. 21 for the Philadelphia Invitational.
