EASTON, Pa. -- C.J. Amill, Jerry Powe, Trent Crossan and Kevin Zataveski are set to take over the leadership responsibilities of the Lafayette football program in 2018. Lafayette head coach John Garrett announced the four seniors as team captains at halftime of Saturday's Maroon and White Spring Game at Fisher Stadium.

Amill has played in 31 games and made three starts at the running back position. He also serves as the primary kick returner, running back two for touchdowns last season. The senior earned the team's Special Teams MVP award after averaging 29.4 yards per kick return last year.

Powe started 21 of 22 games the last two seasons, playing at linebacker, and has played in 32 during his career. For his career, Powe has made 192 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, recorded five sacks and one made one interception. As a freshman in 2015, he was named the team's Defensive Rookie of the Year, and in 2016 he was selected as the team's linebacker MVP.

Crossan, a safety, has played in 28 games including eight starts during his time at College Hill. The senior had a breakout season in 2017, recording 50 tackles and one interception on his way to being named the team's Most Improved Player. Crossan earned CoSIDA Academic-All District II honors as well as Academic All-Patriot League laurels.

Zataveski is the final captain for the Leopards. In 2016, the offensive lineman moved to center and served as an anchor on the offensive line where he had 11 starts. As a freshman in 2015, he was named the team's Offensive Co-Rookie of the Year. Zataveksi sat out the 2017 season.

Lafayette opens the Patriot League season on Sept. 1 at Sacred Heart.
