EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette football team is hosting a “Get in the Game, Save a Life” Bone Marrow Drive tomorrow afternoon on the college quad.
The registry drive is hosted in memory of Lafayette Alum Andy Katz ’86 and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. To register, simply bring your driver’s license and fill out a limited amount of paperwork. The test is a painless swab on the inside of the mouth. The National Marrow Donor Program aims to find matches for thousands of patients with leukemia and other life-threatening diseases. The “Get in the Game, Save a Life” program has opened the door for college employees and students, as well as area residents, to join the registry.
More than 25 million people in the world are registered as potential donors, and gathering donors with diverse racial or ethnic backgrounds is especially critical because patients in need are most likely to match someone of their own race or ethnicity.
