EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette field hockey team, following an emotional overtime victory over archrival Lehigh on Friday evening, couldn't find that same form on Sunday afternoon as No. 25 Albany proved too tough for the Leopards in a 4-0 defeat at Rappolt Field.

Lafayette dug into a three-goal deficit at the halftime break, but played much better in the second stanza. All seven of the Leopards' shots and all four of their corners came in the second half of play.

The loss drops the Maroon and White to 1-6 this season, but 1-0 where it counts in Patriot League action. Albany improves to 4-2 on the season and will surely make a move up the national rankings with two victories this past week.

The first goal came less than six minutes into the contest as Kelsey McCrudden made an excellent individual play on the right side, beating Leopards' goalie Sarah Park to the right side and low for the early lead. The Great Danes followed with two goals within 20 seconds of each other in the 24^th minute as Cosima Rocktaeschel and Elaina Burhcell made it 3-0 into the halftime break.

Lafayette settled down in the second half following the fourth goal from Albany in the 41^st minute. The Leopards started to earn offensive pressure and had a goal narrowly waived off midway through the second stanza.

Shots finished at 14-7 in favor of the visitors, and Albany created seven corners compared to Lafayette's four. Park made six saves on the afternoon in defeat, while Melissa Nealon stopped four shots in the shutout win for the Great Danes.

Lafayette returns to action on Friday, traveling to Philadelphia, Pa. for a meeting with Drexel at 7 p.m.
