FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Lafayette scoring drought stretched into a third game as the Leopards suffered a 4-0 setback at Fairfield. It was the third consecutive loss for head coach
Mick Statham's squad after opening the 2018 season with three victories.
The early part of the halves continued to be a nemesis for the Pards as the hosts scored in the opening five minutes of the contest and another less than nine minutes into the second stanza - both off of headers. The Stags added additional goals on a free kick in the first half and another midway through the second half.
Lafayette managed a total of eight shots on the evening, including two apiece from
Katie Butler and
Rebecca Schreiner. As has been the case in the previous to games, none could find the mark.
The Leopards have one more non-league contest before beginning the Patriot League regular season. The swing through Connecticut will continue with a match at 3 p.m. on Sunday at Central Connecticut.
The first encounter on the league slate will be on the road at Bucknell on Saturday, September 15.
