WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – The Lafayette women's basketball team fell to Monmouth on Saturday afternoon, bringing its three-game win streak to an end.
Senior
Sarah Agnello and junior
Natalie Kucowski both recorded double digits points for the Leopards, each scoring 13. Kucowksi also had 12 rebounds in the game for her sixth double double of the season and 30
th of her collegiate career.
Despite taking an early 4-0 lead, Lafayette (4-4) could not seem to find its groove. After holding Monmouth (2-5) to six points in the second period, the Leopards walked into the locker room down 23-14.
Agnello started the second half off for the Leopards with a three-pointer to bring them within one of the Hawks. And from there it would be a back and forth battle between the two sides with the Leopards eventually pushing their lead to four, after freshman
Shanell Haskins' jumper found its way through the net making it 35-31. But a four point scoring run by the Hawks would bring the score to 35-35 heading into the fourth period.
The Hawks would break the tie in the fourth after a Leopard foul sent Monmouth to the free throw line. One was all they needed to retake the lead, stretch it to 12 and close out the game.
Next up for the Leopards is a 13 day break before hitting the road for their final nonconference road game of the season on Dec. 20 at Seton Hall.
