WEST POINT, N.Y.  – The Lafayette baseball team dropped a pair of games on Saturday at Army despite senior
Spencer Rouse's pair of home runs in game one at Johnson Stadium.
Â
The Black Knights (21-14, 8-4 PL) jumped out to the early lead, scraping across a pair of runs in the first inning before Rouse answered in the second with a big fly to left field to bring the Leopards (11-21, 6-6 PL) within one run.
Â
Rouse was responsible for all of the Lafayette offense in game one, homering again in the fourth after Army pushed across another two runs in the second.
Â
Army found an insurance run in the home half of the fourth as Lafayette starter
JP Woodward allowed three earned in a complete game of 6.0 innings, striking out seven and scattering four hits.
Â
In game two, senior
Richard Villa gave the Leopards their first lead of the afternoon, driving home freshman
Justin Johnson in the third. The Black Knights quickly erased that, striking for six runs in the home half of the third and never looked back.
Â
Rouse was 4-for-7 with the two solo homers and two stolen bases, extending his reached base streak to 16 games. Villa was 3-for-6 on the afternoon with an RBI and a walk while sophomore
Bill Russo reached base three times in game two with a walk and a 2-for-3 outing.
Â
The two Patriot League foes square-off in the series finale Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for noon in West Point.
