EASTON, Pa.  – The Lafayette baseball team took a 12-1 defeat on Wednesday afternoon at Kamine Stadium, falling to Lehigh in a Patriot League contest.
Â
Lehigh (16-20, 5-9 PL) tallied a run in the first and did not look back. However, the Leopards (12-22, 7-7 PL) still hold fourth place in the conference, as well as the tiebreaker between the two teams, as the top four teams make the postseason.
Â
The Mountain Hawks handed sophomore
Michael Dunn his first loss of the season to move to 2-1, battling through 5.0 innings and allowing four earned runs on eight hits while punching out one.
Â
Sophomore
Ethan Stern put together a solid afternoon to lead the Leopard offense, going 2-for-5 with a stolen base. Senior
Dan Leckie drove in the lone Lafayette run in the eighth inning and classmate
Spencer Rouse extended his on-base streak to 18 games.
Â
Lehigh saw production from top to bottom with five players recording multi-hit games and starting pitcher Mason Black not allowing a run over 5.0 innings of work.
Â
The Leopards turn their attention to Holy Cross as they will travel to Worcester, Massachusetts for a crucial three-game set with the Crusaders. Saturday is slated to be a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday is set for 1 p.m., as well. Â
