Volleyball Earns Seventh Straight Win

The Leopards beat Hartford and Central Connecticut State to improve to 8-5

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Lafayette College volleyball team extended its win streak to seven straight matches as they defeated both Central Connecticut State and tournament host Hartford, 3-1, on Friday in the Hartford Invitational.

In the day's first match, the Leopards (8-5) were led by sophomore Grace Tulevech, who recorded a season-high 20 kills, and sophomore Leanna Deegan who also recorded a season-high kills with 19.
The Maroon and White dropped the first set 17-25 to Hartford (5-6) before coming back to win the next three sets 25-20, 25-22 and 25-17.

The day's second match saw the Leopards winning the first set by a close 25-22 but the second set saw the Leopards plagued by errors, which Central Connecticut State (3-7) capitalized on to win the set 25-11.
The Leopards won the third set, 27-25, coming from behind after being down most of the set  before winning the fourth set, 25-20, to claim the match victory.

Senior Julia Howard recorded a season-high 31 assists in the Leopards second win of the day. Tulevech came close to her season-high with 19 kills. Freshman Ellie Carrera-Justiz recorded 12 and Deegan recorded 11.

With the win over Central Connecticut State, the Leopards are now tied for the programs longest win streak since 2005. They now set their sights on day two of the Hartford Invitational as they are set to take on St. Francis Brooklyn tomorrow at 11 a.m. and University of Maryland Eastern Shore at 5 p.m.
