EASTON, Pa. – On Jan. 18 in Annapolis, Navy's Cam Davis sunk a shot from the top of the key with nine seconds left to send the Lafayette men's basketball team to a 68-66 defeat in the sixth game of conference play. On Saturday afternoon, it was senior co-captain
Lukas Jarrett's turn to return the favor as his baseline drive and reverse layup with six seconds on the clock proved to be the game-winner, sealing a 62-60 win on Senior Day at
Kirby Sports Center.
Â
Following Jarrett's winning play, junior
Dylan Hastings needed to make one more as his swat on Navy's bid to tie officially sealed the victory. Lafayette finishes the 2019-20 regular season with an 18-11 overall mark, going 10-8 in Patriot League play, the Leopards' first 10-win conference campaign since 2012-13. Navy falls to 14-15 overall this season and went 8-10 through its league slate.
Â
The win locks the Leopards into the five seed in the Patriot League Tournament, earning a bye into the quarterfinal round as a top-six seed. Fourth-seeded Army will be Lafayette's opponent on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in West Point, N.Y.

Freshman
Leo O'Boyle provided much of the offense for the Maroon and White on Saturday afternoon, scoring 18 points on 6-of-11 from the field and 5-of-6 from the foul line. The rookie is averaging 16.7 points per game over his last three contests heading into postseason play.

Junior
E.J. Stephens and sophomore
Tyrone Perry put together bounce-back performances with 15 points apiece. Freshman
Neal Quinn was also a major factor with eight points, eight rebounds and three blocks in his 27 minutes of play.
Â
Navy jumped out to a 5-0 start, but the Leopards responded with eight straight capped by three free throws from O'Boyle to take a 10-8 advantage under the 12-minute mark. The two sides traded buckets throughout the opening minutes with O'Boyle's put back with 35 seconds remaining taking the game to the half with Navy in front by one, 27-26.
Â
Navy once again jumped ahead early in the second stanza, up 35-30, but Lafayette responded as Perry's pull-up jumper from the right elbow knotted the game at 38-38 with 12:49 remaining. The Mids controlled the next five minutes with John Carter, Jr.'s driving layup down the right side of the lane putting their advantage at four, 49-45.
Â
Stephens and Perry went back-to-back with finishes at the rim to force a Navy timeout at the five-minute mark with the Leopards back ahead, 54-51. But Davis drilled a triple out of the break and the game moved into the final stretch tied again at 54-54.
Â
O'Boyle's jumper from the paint sent the game under a minute knotted at 58-58. Stephens and Davis exchanged jumpers on the next two possessions before Jarrett's driving reverse layup served as the winning bucket. Hastings' swat at the buzzer finished off a 62-60 win.
