OPENING FACEOFF
* The Leopards open up their home season on Saturday afternoon against one of five ranked opponents on their 2020 schedule, hosting No. 16/17 Georgetown. Lafayette fell to No. 1/2 Penn State in State College, Pa. a weekend ago by a 16-9 score, while the Hoyas are playing their first tilt of 2020 on Saturday.
* Sophomore
Ryan Ness manned the pipes admirably in Lafayette's season-opening loss at Penn State. The Chatham, N.J. native recorded 11 saves on 36 shots faced, playing all 60 minutes in his season debut. The Leopards were led offensively by two goals piece from sophomore
Andrew Robbins and freshmen
Ian McCauley and
Nick Jessen. Rookie
Ryan Duncan also posted his first career tally for the Maroon and White.
* Georgetown carries a 5-3 lead in the all-time series with the Leopards, but Lafayette won the last outing between the two teams on Feb. 16, 2013 by an 11-10 score in overtime in Washington, D.C.Â
* Saturday's home opener marks the second in the era of head coach
Patrick Myers, taking over the program prior to the 2019 campaign. Prior to arriving on College Hill, Myers held coaching stints with Penn, North Carolina, Bucknell, Cornell and Ohio State.Â
