EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team opened up its 2020 home slate on Saturday afternoon, falling to No. 16/17 Georgetown by a 17-3 score at Fisher Stadium.
The Leopards conceded the first nine goals of the contest before sophomore
Cole Dutton stopped the run with an unassisted tally just before the halftime break. But the Hoyas went on to surrender just two more and scored eight of their own to see out the final 30 minutes.
Sophomore
Andrew Robbins and freshman
Ian McCauley were the other goal-scorers for the Maroon and White. Freshmen
Tommy McGee and
JP Robinson recorded a pair of caused turnovers on the day, while rookie
Beaudan Szuluk and
James Turco, along with senior
Chris Adamo, led the team with three ground balls apiece.
Georgetown led in shots, 52-22, and put 30 of those on goal compared to nine for the home side. Sophomore
Ryan Ness did all he could between the pipes, registering his second-straight double-digit save performance with 13 in the full 60 minutes.
Lafayette returns to action next weekend, traveling to Chapel Hill, N.C. for a meeting with No. 8 North Carolina on Saturday at 12 p.m.
