Lafayette Sees Streak Fall at Lehigh

Four Leopards put up double digit points in the loss

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lafayette women's basketball saw its five-game win streak come to an end on Saturday night, falling 73-66 to crosstown rivals Lehigh at Stabler Arena.

The Leopards were led by junior Natalie Kucowski with 22 points and 19 rebounds, marking her 14th double double of the season. Three other Leopards found themselves recording double digits as well, with junior Drew Freeland putting up 15, senior Sarah Agnello putting up 14 and senior Alexis Santarelli putting up 12.

Lehigh (15-7, 7-4 PL) got out to a hot start, outshooting Lafayette (11-10, 7-4 PL) 43.2 percent to 33.3 percent in the first half alone and headed into the locker room with a 14 point lead at halftime.

Lafayette came out strong in the third quarter with a jumper by sophomore Nicole Johnson getting things started for the Leopards before Agnello followed that up with a three-pointer to pull the Leopards within 11.

From there, Lafayette would go on an 11-point scoring run to bring the game tied at 44 before Lehigh put in two with under two minutes left to play in the third frame.

Despite Lehigh being up at the end of the third quarter, Lafayette outscored the Mountain Hawks 23-11 in the third alone.

The Mountain Hawks continued to stretch out their lead into the fourth quarter, taking the lead out as far as 10 with less than a minute left to play. Freeland made a three-pointer with three seconds left in the game but the team's third quarter effort wasn't quite enough as they fell by a 73-66 final.

The Leopards home for their next two games. They are set to take on Army on Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Holy Cross on Saturday, for their Play4Kay game, at 2 p.m.
