DURHAM, N.C. – Lafayette softball finished off the Duke Invitational with a doubleheader vs. Fordham on Sunday morning, dropping both ends to the Atlantic 10 foe, 11-3 and 8-0. Â

In game one, a 9 a.m. start, Fordham scored six runs over the first two innings.
Â
The Leopards scored in the first inning for the fifth times this season.

In the second inning, the Leopards manufactured a run, using a
Grace Harvey lead-off walk and an
Erin Scott sac bunt.
Jasmine Nguyen and
Erica Hanson's infield singles kept the inning going before Miner plated Harvey with an RBI-single.

The Rams broke out for four runs in the bottom of the second to stretch the lead to 6-2. Starting pitcher Maddie Aughinbaugh cleared the bases and scored three runs with a double.

Lafayette plated its final run of the game in the third inning on Olynyk's first career home run to make it 7-3. Fordham then closed it out with three in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Kaili Reitano was the Leopards' pitcher of record, allowing five earned on two hits with five walks and a strikeout. Aughinbaugh surrendered two earned runs on six hits while striking out eight.

In game two, Lafayette could not get its bats moving, held to four hits. Fordham scored at least one run in every inning but the second, tallying eight runs on nine hits in an 8-0 final.

The Leopards' best scoring chance came in the home half of the sixth.
Kinzi Van Wyk (infield single) and Miner (double) put two runners in scoring position with no outs. Fordham reliever Makenzie McGrath, enticed a foul out, a strikeout and a flyout to end the game.

Van Wyk threw 5.2 innings, giving up seven earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and eight walks. Devon Miller was the winner, striking out 11 over five innings before giving way to McGrath.

Lafayette will play a single game at Villanova on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before traveling to Clearwater, Fla. for seven contests at The Spring Games.
