LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Leopards fell to the Bucknell Bison on Sunday afternoon in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, 79-45.
Â
Lafayette was led by junior
Naomi Ganpo who despite the loss had a standout game, scoring in double-figures for the first time this season with a career-high 14 points and adding a season-high seven rebounds.
Â
Senior
Natalie Kucowski put up eight points and 11 rebounds while sophomore
Jess Booth totaled nine points. Â Â
Â
Lafayette (0-4) jumped out to a quick lead at the start of the game off a three-point bucket from Booth but it would prove to be the only lead of the game that the Leopards would hold. Bucknell (4-0) took the lead off a Taylor O'Brien field goal after Booth's three and continued to hold a commanding lead throughout the rest of the game.
Â
At the start of the fourth quarter, the Leopards attempted to cut into the scoring gap. Senior
Drew Freeland started off a 3:38 seven-point scoring run with a three-point basket off an assist from Ganpo and a few minutes later, it would be Kucowski who put in her eighth point of the afternoon on a layup off an assist from senior
Sydney Sabino. Freeland found the basket once again off an assist from Kucowski before Bucknell called a timeout.
Â
Coming out of the timeout, the Bison quickly put up a bucket to break the Leopards scoring run. A few plays later, Ganpo put in her 16
th point of the afternoon, marking the final basket of the game for the Leopards.
Â
Lafayette committed 18 turnovers to Bucknell's eight, resulting in 20 of the Bison's points Sunday afternoon. They have now dropped 14-straight to the Bison.
The Leopards will be back on the road on Saturday, traveling to Baltimore, Maryland, for a 1 p.m. tip. The game can be seen on ESPN+.
