NEWARK, Del. – The Lafayette College men's basketball team made a number of second-half flurries Wednesday night, but Delaware was able to hold on, 68-58, at the Bob Carpenter Center.
Junior
Leo O'Boyle led the Leopards with 13 points and six rebounds while classmate
Neal Quinn scored 12 with five boards.
O'Boyle drove it and made a lay-up through contact before hitting the free throw to complete the three-point play to tie the game at 7:20 in the first at 20-20.
The Blue Hens scored the final bucket of the first half before the defenses flexed their muscles for a scoreless final 2:05 of the first.
Quinn made back-to-back layups following an O'Boyle 3-pointer to force Delaware into a timeout at the 8:32 mark in the second.
After battling foul trouble all night, sophomore
Kyle Jenkins was finally able to get involved and drilled back-to-back 3-pointers before classmate
Jon Brantley hit a baseline jumper to cut it to 54-51.
Delaware followed with a 3-pointer of its own to grab momentum into the final media timeout before a fadeaway 3-pointer at the end of the shot clock nearly clinched to make it 60-51 with just 1:37 remaining.
The Blue Hens were led by Dylan Painter's 20 points and used free throws down the stretch close it out.
Perry reached double-figures with 10 points and a pair of assists while Jenkins finished with eight points and six rebounds.
