West Point, N.Y. -- Lafayette College women's tennis closed out its first day of conference play with a 6-1 win over Holy Cross. The match was the second of a doubleheader on Army's campus, with the Leopards falling to the Black Knights, 6-0, in the opener.

Sophomores Jessica Siegel, Melanie Sparhawk and Halle DeNardo earned double-bagel wins in singles over the Crusaders. Siegel and Sparhawk earlier teamed up in a 6-2 second-flight doubles win in the match, while DeNardo partnered with fellow sophomore Emma Menkowitz in a 7-5 third-flight doubles win that helped capture the opening doubles point.

Seniors Samantha Snyder and Cecelia Lesnick also had an impressive showing against Holy Cross, winning their first-flight doubles set together, 6-2. Snyder battled from a set down to win the first-flight singles match, 2-6, 6-1, 10-3, while Lesnick powered through the second-flight singles match, 6-0, 6-3, for Lafayette's fourth straight-sets win of the match.

The Leopards host non-conference opponent La Salle next on Friday, April 2 at 4 p.m.
