EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette baseball team swept the Navy Midshipmen on Saturday, 8-6 and 13-12, at Kamine snapping an eight-game losing streak.
The Leopards were led in game one by junior
Zach Savage who totaled a team-high three hits and added a run and an RBI to his game one stat line. Senior
Colin Hartey totaled a team-high two RBIs in the win, and sophomore
Seif Ingram and junior
Dylan Minghini each totaled a team-high two runs.
Starting pitcher sophomore
Jake Bloss went 6.2 innings, striking out three and earning his second win of the season. Sophomore
Jacob Ciccone came in for 0.1 innings of relief, earning his first save of the season.
Game two saw sophomore
Pete Ciuffreda leading the way with a team-high four RBIs, including a two-run home run, his first long ball of the season. Freshman
Blaze Fadio also recorded a home run in the Leopards second game, marking his first collegiate home run.

Nolan Morr went 3.1 innings, striking out two. Freshman
Adam Bogosian came in for 2.0 innings of relief, striking out two and earning his first collegiate win.
After Navy (8-5, 3-5 PL) went up 4-0 by the top of the second inning in game one, Minghini got on base for the Leoaprds (6-9, 5-7 PL) after getting hit by a pitch. Savage then singled to advance Minghini, putting runners on first and second.
Savage then found himself out at second after freshman
Bo Planeta hit into a fielder's choice, bringing Ingram up to bat with runners on first and third. He was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Freshman
Blaze Fadio was then also hit by a pitch, bringing home Minghini to give the Leopards their first run of the game.
Grech hit a sacrifice fly to advance Ingram, bringing home Planeta and putting the score at 4-2. Hartey was then also hit by a pitch, moving Fadio to second for Stern, who drew a walk to advance all runners and bring home Ingram. Ciuffreda drew a walk to bring home Fadio and tie up the game, 4-4 at the end of the second inning.
Navy added a run in the top of the fifth to bring to score to 5-4.
The Leopards exploded again in the bottom of the fifth. Minghini started off the inning with a double and then Savage singled to put runners on the corners. Ingram singled to advance Savage to second and bring Minghini home, tying up the game at five runs each.
Grech singled to load the bases and then a big single by Hartey brought home Ingram and Savage putting the Leopards out in front 7-5.
Lafayette added one more run in the bottom of the sixth and Navy added one more in the top of the seventh but the Maroon and White were able to hold on for the 8-6 game one win.
Game two started off by Navy going up 2-0 right away in the top of the first inning. Lafayette answered in the bottom of the first, adding two runs of its own to bring the score to 2-2.
The Midshipmen added two more in the top of the second and one more in the top of the third. The Leopards added two more in the bottom of the third to bring the score within one, 5-4, heading into the fourth inning.
Navy exploded for three runs in the top of the fourth but Lafayette answered with three of its own in the bottom of the fourth to keep the score within one.
With the Leopards down, 9-12 in the bottom of the eighth, Fadio was the first Leopard to find himself on base after drawing a walk. Hartey walked as well to advance Fadio to second, bringing Stern to the plate.
Stern singled, bringing Fadio home. Ciuffreda then drove in two more after reaching first on an error by the Midshipmen's centerfielder which brought home both Ingram and Hartey to tie up the game at 12.
With Ciuffreda on second, Minghini singled to score Ciuffreda putting the Leopards ahead 13-12.
Navy couldn't get any more runs across home plate as Bogosian struck out two of the Midshipmen batters in the top of the ninth, and forced the last batter to fly out to the Leopards right fielder, giving Lafayette the 13-12 victory and Saturday sweep.
The Leopards and Midshipmen as set to face-off tomorrow in Annapolis for games three and four of the weekend series. Game one of the Sunday doubleheader is slated for a 1 p.m. first pitch. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
