LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team couldn't sustain enough offense in Lewisburg, Pa. on Saturday evening, falling to Bucknell by a 14-6 score.
The game was even through the opening quarter as the defenses controlled play with Bucknell leading, 3-1. The Bison offense came alive in the second, though, scoring four of the six goals to take a 7-3 lead into the halftime break.
Bucknell opened the game up after the halftime break, dominating the third quarter with six straight goals to tak a 13-3 advantage.
Evan Lotz's score to open the fourth stopped the Bison scoring run, but it was too little, too late for the Maroon and White before the clock sounded on a 14-6 final.
Two Leopards scored multiple goals in the contest as
Cole Dutton and
Charlie Cunniffe each tallied two goals and an assist to lead the way offensively. On the defensive side,
Brian Collins chipped in with two ground balls and a caused turnovers.
In net,
Ryan Ness did all he could with 15 saves on 53 shots faced. The loss drops Lafayette to 0-7 on the season, while Bucknell improves to 2-4.
The Leopards return to Fisher Stadium in their next contest, hosting Lehigh on Friday evening at 8 p.m.
