Men's Soccer Defeats Lehigh to Complete Undefeated Spring

Lombard netted his third of the season, Ippolito and Robbins netted their first

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men's soccer team defeated Lehigh, 3-0, Friday night to finish the spring regular season a perfect 6-0.

The Leopards were led by sophomore Hale Lombard, junior Max Ippolito and senior Kyle Robbins who each netted a goal in the victory. Junior Will Echeverria totaled one assist on the night and sophomore Benji Grossi totaled two.

Junior Alex Sutton totaled one save in 90 minutes of action.

It took until the 37th minute before either team could find the back of the net. Lombard would be the first to strike for the Leopards (6-0, 4-0 North), netting his third of the season to put the Maroon and White up 1-0.

The Leopards added two more in the second half. Junior Max Ippolito netted his first of the season off an assist by Echeverria to put Lafayette up 2-0. Six minutes later it was Robbins, on his senior night, who netted his first collegiate goal to put the Leopards up 3-0.

Lehigh (1-4, 1-3 South) couldn't find an answer for any of the Leopards goals, and Lafayette walked away with the victory and an undefeated spring regular season.

The squad is the first time that a Patriot League team has been perfect since 2013 when Navy went a perfect 9-0.

With the win, Lafayette has clinched the top seed in the North Division and will host Holy Cross in a Patriot League Tournament Semifinal game on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
