EASTON, Pa. – Freshman
Blaze Fadio provided three RBI's to back a six-inning outing from sophomore
Jake Bloss and three innings in relief from rookie
Joey Pence as baseball took down Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon, 6-2.
Holy Cross opened the scoring in the third on back-to-back RBI singles, but were stymied from that point forward as Bloss and Pence combined for seven strikeouts on the mound. Fadio's solo shot in the third got the Leopards on the board and RBI singles from
Seif Ingram and
Dylan Minghini in the fourth pushed the Leopards in front, 3-2.
Fadio again came through clutch in the sixth with a two-RBI double to left to score Ingram and
Colin Hartey, and expand the edge to three, 5-2. The rookie came home on an error in right for the final run of the day.
Ingram joined Fadio as the other Leopard with a multi-hit outing, knocking a pair with an RBI and a run scored. Bloss scattered seven hits over his six innings of work with two earned runs, while Pence gave up just two hits in three innings with two walks and a strikeout.
The Leopards and Crusaders rematch on Sunday at Kamine Stadium for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
