WEST POINT, N.Y. – In a game where neither team could find a rhythm on the offensive end, Army was able to sneak out a few more big buckets to defeat the Lafayette College men's basketball team, 60-56 Saturday afternoon in Christl Arena.
Junior
Neal Quinn paced the Leopards with 16 points and five rebounds, his 12
th-straight performance in double-figures, while sophomore
Jon Brantley came off the bench to score 15.
Senior
Tyrone Perry returned to the Leopards' lineup and hit a driving layup with under three minutes left to extend the Lafayette lead to 56-53. The Black Knights would cut it to one with a quick layup on the next possession before nearly two minutes of scoreless basketball.
The home team would find its way to the free throw line and convert the big ones down the stretch to pull away.
Army opened the second half on an 6-0 run to lead by eight points before Lafayette was able to chip away, culminating with senior
Tomas Verbinskis' 3-pointer to give the Leopards a 46-45 lead with under eight minutes left.
Verbinskis would score again to tie the game at 48 after Army answered with a 3-pointer, and the two teams traded blows as Quinn and Brantley would carry the load for the Leopards.
Brantley would give Lafayette a 54-53 lead with his third 3-pointer of the afternoon before Perry's late bucket.
Both teams shot it under 40% from the field for the game, but Army hit 10 3-pointers, including four each for Aaron Duhart and Jalen Rucker who scored 18 and 14, respectively.
Sophomore

CJ Fulton was held scoreless, but had a career-best eight rebounds to go along with five assists and three steals.
Lafayette returns to
