PHILADELPHIA, Pa.– The Lafayette field hockey team was defeated by the Drexel Dragons 2-1 on Friday afternoon.
Drexel's Amber Brouwer, assisted by Cailey Lever, and Avery Powell, assisted by Eline Di Leva, were credited with goals on Buckley Field (16:14, 31:39).
Freshman midfielder
Josephine van Wijk tallied the lone Leopard goal at 55:24, assisted by
India Ralph and
Catalina Rubel, during a penalty corner.
The Dragons held the advantage in penalty corners (6-4), while shots were tied 8-8.
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Emma Garvey made four saves in the match. Her Drexel counterpart, Megan Hadfield, made six.
The Leopards will travel to Penn State on Sunday, facing the No. 5 Nittany Lions at 1:30 p.m.
