LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's basketball team dropped a 63-55 decision to Siena on Saturday afternoon.

The Maroon and White had three players in double figures, with
Makayla Andrews leading the offense with 18.
Abby Antognoli and
Halee Smith chipped in with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Emma Shields recorded career-highs in steals (3) and assists (3).

Siena also had three players in double figures with Ahniysha Jackson draining 18 points. Anajah Brown and Teresa Seppala added 13 and 12, respectively. The Saints had six different players collect steals with 12 total, good for 18 points off turnovers.Â

The Saints took a 12-9 lead after the first quarter, with Brown putting up six points. Andrews led the Leopards with six points, while Antognoli added a three-pointer.Â

Smith drained a three-pointer to open the second quarter and tie it up at 12 apiece. Siena's Elisa Mevius responded with one of her own to regain the lead. On the next possession, Smith hit her second three to pull the Leopards even with the Saints at 15 apiece.

Siena countered with a 9-0 run, draining three field goals and a three-pointer. Jackson's three was the final basket of the half, giving the Saints a 26-19 lead at the break.

The Leopards picked up momentum at the beginning of the third quarter, with Smith opening another quarter with a three-pointer on the first possession. Andrews followed with two lay-ups and Jess Booth with one, as Lafayette pulled within one, 29-28.

Siena took control with a 13-2 run, consisting of three three-pointers from Jackson. Brown and Angel Jones added one layup apiece. Booth scored the lone basket for Lafayette off of a layup.

With 2:28 left in the game,
Sauda Ntaconayigize drove a layup to the hoop to put the Leopards within 10. Siena traveled immediately upon inbounding the ball, turning possession over to Lafayette under its basket. Antognoli hosited a jumper, but Brown blocked her third shot of the contest.

Antognoli drained a three with 52 seconds on the clock, putting her in double figures with 12 points and putting the Leopards within six. Brown responded with a layup on the next possession, securing Siena's 63-55 win.

The Leopards will return to Easton on Tuesday when they play La Salle in a doubleheader beginning at 6:00 p.m.
