Andrews Named Patriot League Player of the Week

Sophomore guard averaged 20.5 points over the Leopards' two games

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore guard Makayla Andrews of the Lafayette College women's basketball team was named the Patriot League Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.  

The Neptune, N.J., native averaged 20.5 points over the Leopards two games this week. On Wednesday against Boston U. she totaled a team-high 18 points and on Saturday in the Leopards win at Lehigh, she recorded a career-high 23 points.
 
On Wednesday the sophomore also added eight rebounds, two assists and one block to help lead Lafayette to a 58-52 victory over Boston marking the Leopards first win over the Terriers since the 2019-20 season.
 
At Lehigh on Saturday, along with her career-high 23 points, she saw a career-high 38 minutes of game action and recorded a career-high seven made shots from the charity stripe to help the Leopards win their second-straight and defeat the Mountain Hawks in Bethlehem.
 
The Patriot League Weekly Honor marks Andrews' first-ever weekly honor and the Leopards second of the season. Freshman Abby Antongoli was named the league's Rookie of the Week on Feb. 21. 
 
The Leopards concluded the regular season on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. as they are set for one final test with American at 7 p.m. The Patriot League Championship begins on Saturday, March 5.
