SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Lafayette College baseball team fell to Wofford College, 19-1, in the final game of the three-game series on Monday.

Lafayette was led by senior
Dylan Minghini who went 1-for-2 with one run and freshman
Michael Zarrillo who went 1-for-2.

Jake Bloss went 5.1 innings striking out four. Â

Wofford (10-7, 0-0 SoCon) took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Lafayette (2-13, 0-0 PL) cut the Terrier's lead in half in the top of the second after Minghini led off the inning with a single to left field and was eventually brought home on a passed ball.

The Terriers responded to the Leopards' run with two runs in the bottom of the second to put the score at 4-1. They then added two more in the third, one more in the fourth, two more in the sixth and one run in the bottom of the seventh.

Lafayette had a chance to get more runs across the plate in the top of the eighth after sophomore
Justin Grech was hit by a pitch to start off the inning. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch leaving first open for freshman
Easton Brenner who drew a walk to put runners on first and second. Both runner than each advanced a base on a wild pitch. Â

Three batters later with two outs, Minghini walked to load the bases but Grech was called out at home to end the inning.

The home team then add nine runs in the bottom of the eighth to secure the victory and series sweep.

The Terriers were led by sophomore Jack Renwick who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI, senior John Dempsey who went 2-for-4 with two run and one RBI, junior Cameron Gill who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, sophomore Ben Schulte who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Sophomore Andrew Calhoun totaled a game-high three RBIs.
