EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette College baseball team swept Lehigh on Sunday, winning game one, 7-4, and game two 5-1, to claim the weekend series. The Lafayette Nine now move to 3-1 in Patriot League action.

The Leopards were led in game one by junior
Pete Ciuffreda who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBIs. Freshman
Easton Brenner was 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBIs. In game two, Brenner went 2-for-3 while freshman
Carter Dorighi added a hit and each had two RBIs.

Game one starting pitcher junior
Jordan Yoder went 6.0 innings, striking out six and earning the win. Senior
Frank Craska earned the save after coming in for an inning of relief. Game two starting pitcher senior
Kyle Subers went 6.0 innings, striking out a season-high eight batters. Freshman
Chase Barley pitched 3.0 innings of relief to earning his first save.

Lafayette (7-18, 3-1 PL) got on the board first in the bottom of the second after junior
Kyle Chmielewski hit a sacrifice fly to right field with the bases loaded to bring home senior
Dylan Minghini who was on third.

The Leopards added two more runs in the bottom of the third. Sophomore
Justin Grech led off the inning with a single and then Brenner doubled to put runners on the corners with no outs.

Ciuffreda, the next batter, singled to bring both Brenner and Grech home giving Lafayette a 3-0 lead. The Lafayette Nine added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-0 lead heading into the fifth.

Lehigh (13-10, 1-3 PL) broke through the Leopards' defense in the top of the sixth with a solo home run. Lafayette responded with another run in the bottom of the sixth to put the score at 7-1.

The Mountain Hawks tried to start a comeback in the top of the seventh, bringing three runners home but the defense held them to those three run to secure the game one victory 7-4.

The start of game two proved to be a pitchers' duel as neither no runs crossed the plate through five and a half innings.

Lafayette broke through Lehigh's defense in the bottom of the sixth. Grech reached first base on an error by the Mountain Hawks' third baseman and then advanced to second on an overthrow at first. Brenner then doubled to bring Grech home, putting Lafayette ahead 1-0 heading into the seventh.

The Maroon and White exploded for four runs in the eighth after Grech jump started the offense by drawing a walk, stealing second and then advancing to third on a wild pitch. Brenner then walked and stole second to put runners on second and third. Ciuffreda took first after being intentionally walked to load the bases for Minghini who hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Grech home.

Ciuffreda stole second to put runners in scoring position. Dorighi then reached base on an error which was enough to score both Ciuffreda and Brenner to give Lafayette a 4-0 lead.

Junior
Seif Ingram reached base on another Mountain Hawk error and Dorighi came across home on a bad throw to give Lafayette a 5-0 lead.

Lehigh got a run across home plate in the top of the ninth, but Barley was able to get the final out of the game to secure the 5-1 win and Sunday sweep.

The Leopards are back in action on Tuesday for a mid-week test against Penn. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. in Philadelphia. Â
