Baseball Falls in Middle Game of Virginia Swing

Leopards will look to regroup Sunday at Richmond

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Lafayette College baseball team dropped a 21-9 decision Saturday afternoon to William & Mary in the middle game of a three-game tour of Virginia.

Sophomore Justin Grech was 2-for-4 out of the leadoff spot with a double, scoring three runs while freshman Easton Brenner had a 2-for-5 outing with a double, two RBI and a run scored.

After falling behind early, the Leopards made it a ball game through six innings after plating six runs in the fifth and scoring another two in the sixth to make it 11-9. Junior Seif Ingram had the big hit in the fifth, doubling to right-center to score two. Lafayette had its first eight batters reach in the fifth to create the big inning. The Tribe answered with a seven-run eighth inning to pull away.

The Leopards had a season-best 13 hits as a team and played a clean game in the field. However, the home team put together 15 hits and scored 10 runs in the first two innings to take control.

The weekend concludes for the Lafayette Nine on Sunday, traveling to Richmond for a noon first pitch against the Spiders.
