Crusaders Take Down Leopards in Saturday’s Conference Contest

Culligan posted two goals to total 22 this season

EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette women's lacrosse team was defeated by conference opponent Holy Cross, 16-4, on Saturday afternoon inside Fisher Stadium.

Holy Cross had two large stretches of unanswered goals despite a flurry of attempted shots on goal from the Leopards throughout the contest. The Crusaders took nine straight during the first half and four more to end the game.

Three Leopards scored in the contest, led by sophomore midfielder Clare Culligan with two goals. Sophomore midfielder Abby Romano and senior attacker Olivia Cunningham both scored one apiece for the Maroon and White. Junior attacker Meghan McLachlan added the lone assist.

The Crusaders totaled 16 goals, led by Jolie Creo with five goals and five assists. Jenn Giardina, Jordyn Arakelian and Lauren Drillock all tallied two goals. Isabella Miller, Christine Fabrizi, Ella Kittredge, Charlotte Wittstock and Henna Brennan each scored one apiece.

The Leopards' only advantage was in draw controls (32-25), led by freshman midfielder Izzy Reh with eight. The Crusaders took charge of ground balls (26-18), shots (42-28) and clears (22-22 to 15-20). Holy Cross was 5-7 in free-position shots, while the Leopards went 1-5.

Lafayette's sophomore goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron made six saves in the loss, before sharing the net with freshman Molly Terraciano, who tallied five. Their Holy Cross counterpart, Grace Flink, made 15.

The Leopards will travel to Colgate next Saturday.
