Three Goals Lift Field Hockey Over Bryant

Leopards record a 1-1 opening weekend

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette field hockey team defeated the Bryant Bulldogs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at Rappolt Field. The Leopards are now 1-1 overall (0-0 PL) after 2022's opening weekend.

Senior forward Felicitas Hannes got the scoring started with a successful penalty stroke at 10:40 in the first quarter. The Cologne, Germany native quickly placed the ball out of reach of the goalkeeper's right pad.

Sophomore defender India Ralph added the Leopards' second tally at 18:13 while the team was one woman-up on the field.

Lineke Spaans sent a weaving pass to sophomore midfielder Mackenzie Hall at 22:06 to end Lafayette's scoring streak. The Oceanside, Calif. native got her stick on the ball to ricochet it into the backboard.

Bryant's lone tally came from a backhand shot to the top of the net at 57:35 from Taryn Rauff.

Lafayette held the advantage in total shots (22-5), as well as penalty corners (6-4). Lafayette's freshman goalkeeper Raffi Fragomeni made one save in the victory, while her Bulldog counterpart, Dieneke HES, made 13.

The Leopards will travel to Wake Forest on Sept. 2.
