WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Lafayette field hockey team was defeated by the No. 20 Wake Forest Demon Deacons 6-1 on Friday evening. The Leopards are currently 1-2 overall (0-0 PL) and will see two more weekends of play before facing any Patriot League opponents, starting with American on Sept. 17.
Wake Forest got on the board early with a penalty corner goal by Meike Lanckohr, assisted by Lee Ann Gordon and Grace Delmotte (2:13). Lanckohr added another tally at 7:10.

Wake Forest's streak from Hannah Maxwell, Ashley Hart and Maggie Dickman rounded out the game for a 6-1 final score.
The Demon Deacons held the advantage in total shots (23-5), as well as penalty corners (9-0).

The Leopards will close out this weekend at VCU on Sunday at 1 p.m. before returning to Easton next Friday.
