LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lafayette College volleyball team fell in straight sets (20-25, 20-25, 25-18) Sunday afternoon at the hands of Bucknell inside Davis Gym.
Â
Freshman
Hannah Ehrich-Pollock was the bright spot for the Leopards, finishing with nine kills and hitting .467 on the afternoon.
Â
It was a promising start for the Leopards when they jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the first. Bucknell would quickly answer with a 4-0 run and after Lafayette scored three-straight to make it 14-10, the Bison would score seven in-a-row.
Â
The Bison scoring run in the first would grab momentum that would carry into the second frame as the Bison would put together a similar 7-1 run to take a 10-4 advantage. The Leopards were able to get back within two at 12-10, but Bucknell would prove to be too much in the second.
Â
Lafayette bounced back in the third, jumping out to a 3-0 advantage and grew its lead to 7-3 in the early parts of the final frame. Bucknell would answer with a 6-0 run to jump in front but the Leopards would battle back and take the lead, 15-14, at the media timeout.
Â
Bucknell would score five-unanswered after the timeout and runaway with the third set.
Â
Junior
Gracie Gibson added six kills and sophomore
Abby Nieporte had five putaways and three service aces.
Â
Lafayette continues Patriot League play, returning home Friday to host Army at 7 p.m. before playing Colgate on Saturday inside Kirby Sports Center.
