LEWISBURG, Pa.– The Lafayette field hockey team was defeated by the Bucknell Bison 2-1 on Friday evening.
The match remained scoreless until the third quarter, very reminiscent of the defensive battle during the teams' last meeting in the 2021 Patriot League semifinal.
Lafayette was in the opposing circle for the majority of regulation, until the Bison had a frenzy of eight consecutive penalty corners during the third period. Freshman goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni and the DPC unit held steady to keep the shutout.
Freshman forward
Catalina Rubel stole an outlet pass off of a Bison defender to assist senior
Molly McAndrew, who put the Leopards on the board first at 39:44.
Bucknell's Lily Neilson tied the game at 43:39, assisted by Nicky Punt.
The Bisons' go-ahead goal came from Kayla Kisthardt during a penalty corner at 54:29.
Bucknell held the advantage in total shots (16-11) and penalty corners (12-7).
Lafayette's Fragomeni made a season and career-high nine saves in the defeat. Her Bison counterpart, Clara McCormick, made six.
The Leopards travel to No. 7 Princeton on Sunday.
