EASTON, Pa. – Coming off a conference road win over No. 11/15 Holy Cross, Lafayette football has earned spots in both of the FCS top 25 polls.
Â
The Leopards are ranked 19th in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and 21st In the Stats Perform Poll. The last time Lafayette was ranked in either poll was Dec. 21, 2009 when the Maroon and White were tabbed for No. 24Â in the Sports Network Poll (now Stats Perform) and No. 25 in the FCS Coaches Poll. Lafayette had garnered votes in each of the last two weeks.
Â
With second-year head coach
John Troxell '94 on the sideline, Lafayette claimed a convincing 38-35 win at Holy Cross on Saturday. It was Lafayette's first win over a top 25 team since 2013. On a wet, windy day, the Leopards used the running attack led by
Jamar Curtis' 229 yards to control the game, in the process snapping Holy Cross' 18-game conference winning streak.
Â
Lafayette already has surpassed the program win total from each of the last eight seasons, guaranteeing the program its first winning season since 2009. The Leopards finished their non-league slate with a 4-1 mark and have improved to 2-0 in conference play. Â
Â
Next up for the Leopards is a road trip to Georgetown on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. kick off.
