Men’s Soccer’s Run Ends in the PL Championship

The Leopards finish the season with a 9-6-6 record

BOSTON, Mass.- The Lafayette men's soccer team lost 1-0 in the Patriot League final to Boston U. Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field.

The Leopards had a bright start to the match with junior forward Lawrence Aydlett firing a shot wide of goalkeeper Franceso Montali's goal. In the 10th minute, Quinn Matulis forced a good save out of junior goalkeeper Griffin Huff to keep the Terriers' off the board.

In the 39th minute, freshman forward Roy Biegon took on a shot requiring a save from Montali. Boston U. outshot Lafayette 4-3 in the first half of play.

In the 65th minute, Eitan Rosen broke the deadlock off an assist from Andrew Rent. Rent played a ball forward to Rosen who had space in front of him. Rosen took a few touches toward the left flank before cutting back inside to his stronger right foot. Rosen then fired a shot that knuckled away from Huff and tucked right inside the far post of Huff's goal.

Lafayette almost found the equalizer in the 82nd minute. Junior Connor Dawson stood over the ball, waiting to take the corner kick. His service went right into the mix, causing trouble for Montali. Sophomore defender Nicholas Liebich beat his man to the spot, but his headed effort ricocheted off the crossbar.

Lafayette threw numbers forward, but when the final whistle blew the Terriers emerged victorious.

The Leopards finished the season with a 9-6-6 record.
