LAFAYETTE, La. – The Leopard softball team closed out the 37
th Annual Louisiana Classics on Sunday with a 12-0 setback vs. Stephen F. Austin.

The Lumberjacks started the scoring in the second inning, taking the 1-0 lead on a sac fly. SFA held that advantage through the fourth before scoring five runs. Camryn Middlebrook drove in a pair of baserunners with a single to center field.

Stephen F. Austin pulled away with six runs in the fifth inning to close out the game. Middlebrook drove in the first baserunner and Sydnee Hebert and Mackenzie Bennett doubled in two more for the 12-0 margin.

SFA pitcher Alexis Telford held the Leopard lineup in check, allowing only a single to
Kaili Reitano in the second while striking out four over four innings.
Kaya Ciccone-Cozart added a single in the fifth inning off reliever Brooke Gainous.

Kailee Sawai was the pitcher of record for the Maroon and White, allowing six runs on six hits over 3.2 innings.
Morrigan Gardiner (6R, 6H) and
Jacqueline Cal (0 R, 1 H) combined to throw the final inning and a third.

Lafayette will get back to action on Feb. 25-26 at the UMBC Retriever Round Robin.
