HAMMOND, La. – Lafayette baseball was defeated by Southeastern Louisiana 11-4 on Sunday at Alumni Field.

The Leopards were led by Junior
Bo Planeta with a two-run home run and junior
Blaze Fadio, who had two hits, an RBI and scored a run. Sophomore
Easton Brenner, freshman
Ethan Swidler and sophomore
Ben Petrone all recorded a hit.

Jacob Maurer made his first collegiate start on the mound, throwing 1.2 innings and striking out one.

Southeastern Louisiana scored first in the second inning. The Lions took the lead, scoring on a wild pitch with the bases loaded. Later in the second, Southeastern Louisiana added five more runs scoring on a dropped third strike, a balk and a three-run RBI double down the right field line. Â
The Leopards responded with two runs of their own in the third. With two outs on the board, Brenner singled to left field and then stole second. Fadio slapped an RBI-double to right center field, advanced to third on a wild pick-off attempt and then crossed the plate on a wild pitch, making the score 6-2.
The Lions added a run in the third and another run in the fourth to extend their lead to 8-2.

Lafayette again countered with two runs in the seventh. Swidler got on base after being hit by a pitch and then Planeta blasted a two-run home run over the fence in left field, cutting the deficit to 8-4. It was the first collegiate home run for Planeta.
The Lions added three insurance runs in the eighth, pushing to an 11-4 final.

The Leopards travel to Davidson on Friday where they start a three-game series with the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m.
