Fulton, Rivera Collect All-Patriot League Laurels

Fulton earned third-team honors while Rivera named to the all-rookie squad

BETHLEHEM, Pa.  – Sophomore CJ Fulton and freshman Josh Rivera earned recognition from the Patriot League on Monday, as the men's basketball post-season honors were announced.

Fulton was named to the All-Patriot League Third Team after averaging 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. His 2.8 assist/turnover ratio tops the league and ranks 25th nationally.

Fulton was named the conference player of the week on Dec. 26 after scoring a career-high 20 points in the Leopards' 90-65 victory over La Salle. He shot 7-of-9 from the floor and 6-of-8 from 3-point range, while adding six assists and grabbing five rebounds in the decisive afternoon.

The Belfast, Ireland native had 15 double-figure scoring performances, totaling 303 points while averaging a conference-best 36.5 minutes per game. He started every game in the 2022-23 season for the Maroon and White until Feb. 22, when he was sidelined due to injury.

Lafayette has had at least one player on the Patriot League All-Rookie squad since 2019, with Fulton taking All-Rookie honors following the 2021-22 season.

Rivera continued that streak and earned All-Rookie Team status after totaling 291 points and two double-doubles while starting 19 games in his freshman campaign. He ended the regular season averaging 10 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game.

Rivera had 13 double-digit scoring performances, five of which were above the 20-point mark. He scored a career-high 27 points against American on Jan. 18, shooting 12-for-13 from the floor and 100 percent beyond the arc.

The New Brunswick, N.J. native was named the conference rookie of the week on Jan. 30 after knocking down 25 points and his first collegiate double-double to battle the conference leader, Colgate, to the final minutes. He grabbed 10 rebounds and was 10-of-19 from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers and a pair of blocks.

The Leopards open up the postseason Thursday night, traveling to rival Lehigh in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament at 7 p.m. at Stabler Arena.
