HAMPTON, Va. - The Lafayette men's lacrosse team dominated in a 18-9 win over non-conference foe Hampton on Tuesday afternoon.
Juniors
Peter Lehman and
Charlie Cunniffe each led Lafayette with three goals. Senior
Ryan Duncan, juniors
Carter Cecil and
Kalman Kraham each netted two goals.
The Leopards' offense opened up the game with heads of steam, producing six different goal scorers in the first half. Duncan netted two goals as he guided the Leopards into halftime with a 7-4 lead.
Lafayette erupted with a six-goal run in the first seven minutes of the second half, giving the Leopards a 13-4 lead. Lehman netted a hat trick in the run, helping send Lafayette into the fourth quarter up 14-5.
Both teams scored four goals in the fourth quarter, as the Leopards went on to secure a 18-9 victory.
The Leopards had three goalkeepers record minutes in today's contest, as rookie
Joe Doherty earned the starting nod and made two saves. Sophomore
Gabe Cummins started the second half and made five saves before senior
Will Moran took over and recorded two saves.
Cunniffe and senior
Tommy McGee each had three caused turnovers, while senior
Brian Collins and sophomore
Evan Prince picked up six ground balls each. Prince was the Leopards main faceoff option, going 15-for-19 from the "x."
The Leopards return home on Saturday for the first time in 28 days, playing host to Patriot League foe Colgate at noon. Saturday's contest will be the Military Appreciation Game.
