Leopards Drop Series Finale at High Point

Lafayette travels to Stony Brook next weekend

HIGH POINT, N.C. - The Lafayette baseball team was defeated in the final game of a four-game series with High Point on Sunday at Willard Stadium.

The Leopards got off to a fast start in the top of the first when junior Blaze Fadio singled to lead off the game. Junior Justin Grech followed with a waIk. Then senior Seif Ingram lined a single up the middle, driving in Fadio and Grech and giving Lafayette a 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first, the Panthers offense responded by scoring eight runs bringing the score to 8-2. The frame was punctuated by a home run by graduate student Cael Chatham.

Lafayette countered with a run in the top of the third as the Leopards loaded the bases and senior Pete Ciuffreda delivered an RBI-groundout, making the score 8-3.

The Panthers added a run in the bottom of the third and also added four more runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth, bringing the final tally to 15-3.

Junior Gus Hughes pitched a complete game for the Panthers and collected the win. Sophomore Joe Skapinetz took the loss for the Leopards.
