ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Following a two-hour weather delay, the Leopards fell to Navy 9-6 on a stormy Saturday afternoon.
Juniors
Peter Lehman and
Kalman Kraham led the Leopards with two goals apiece.
Navy was led by Jon Jarosz with three goals and two assists.
The Mids started off with a 3-0 run to take an early lead in the first. Sophomore
Riley Sullivan broke up the run, netting the Leopards' first goal of the afternoon with just under one minute remaining in the first quarter.
Navy struck early in the second quarter, increasing its lead to 4-1 with over 10 minutes left in the half. Lehman scored back to back goals, reducing the deficit to one with three minutes on the clock. Navy's Jon Jarosz scored his second goal of the game to give the Mids a 5-3 lead at intermission.
The Mids' Max Hewitt gave them a 6-3 lead before Kraham struck twice to put the Leopards down 6-5 after three quarters.
Navy went on a three-goal run in the fourth, grabbing a 9-5 lead with 7:23 left in the game. Junior
John Mathes contributed his first goal of the afternoon with a minute remaining as the Mids held on for the win 9-6.
Freshman goalkeeper
Joe Doherty made 12 saves in net and led Lafayette with five ground balls.
The Leopards host Senior Night on Friday at Fisher Stadium as Lafayette takes on Bucknell at 7:30 p.m.
