EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette women's lacrosse team concluded the 2023 regular season against No. 15 Army, dropping a 17-7 final on Thursday evening in Fisher Stadium.
Sara Rogers and
Kerry Tuorto paced the Leopards with two goals for two points apiece. Rogers added two ground balls and one draw control to her repertoire.
Army made a 5-0 run to open the first period, which was stopped late in the quarter by a goal from
Abby Romano with 46 seconds on the clock.
Tuorto's first goal of the night at 6:43 was book-ended by six Black Knight tallies for an 11-2 score at the halftime buzzer.
The Leopards got rolling in the third period with goals by
Katie Chiasson and Spallone. Tuorto knocked back her second at 12:38.
Despite two scores from
Sara Rogers, Army put up five goals in the last quarter to take home a 17-7 final.
The nationally-ranked Black Knights held the advantage in draw controls (17-10), ground balls (25-21), shots (40-18) and clears (15-16 to 11-18).
Lafayette's junior goalkeeper
Lexie Coldiron gave her final stand of the season and made eight saves on 25 shots on goal. Her Army counterparts, Lindsey Serafine and Lacey Bartholomay made three saves each. Catherine Theut also saw the field this evening for the Black Knights.
