Box Score SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Lafayette College volleyball team fell in five sets (25-22, 13-25, 25-21, 12-25, 10-15) Friday evening at the hands of Northeastern at its opener at the Bryant Invitational Tournament.
It was a promising start for the Leopards as they took the first set. In that set, they accumulated 14 kills in 44 total attacks.

Abby Nieporte performed well for Lafayette. Gibson finished the evening with 13 kills and Nieporte picked up 15.
Northeastern made it all square after winning the second set 25-13.
Lafayette bounced back in the third set. It was back and forth for a while until the Leopards pulled away, winning the set 25-21. Senior

Anna Van Wyk led Lafayette's defense. Weston had 13 digs and Van Wyk had 12. Gibson also managed a solo block as well as three block assists.
Northeastern wouldn't back down as it won the fourth set 25-12.
It was a nail biter going into the fifth set, but in the end Lafayette lost the set 15-10.
The Leopards look to bounce back in their doubleheader on 9/2 against Siena and Bryant to close out the tournament.
