AMHERST, Mass.– Lafayette field hockey fell to the UMass Minutewomen 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in the Gladchuk Field Hockey Complex.
Both teams stood scoreless through the first half, though the Leopards got three looks on cage and two corners.
UMass broke the stalemate at 36:51 in the third quarter with a goal from Alexa Collins.
The defensive battle continued through the remainder of the contest as neither team found the net again after 60 minutes.
The Minutewomen held the advantage in total shots (8-7), whereas the Leopards earned two additional penalty corners (5-3).
Lafayette's sophomore goalkeeper 
Raffi Fragomeni made two saves and her UMass counterpart, Myrte van Herwijnen, made four.
The Leopards host #8 Syracuse on Friday at 6 p.m.
