EASTON, Pa.– The Lafayette field hockey team shut out Holy Cross 2-0 on Saturday morning at Rappolt Field, moving to 4-5 (2-1 PL) on the season.
Freshman midfielder
Lea Good put the Leopards on the board first at 6:48 in the introductory quarter. The Chatham, N.J. native collected a loose ball in the circle and took an angled shot around the Crusader goalkeeper.
The Lafayette defense held strong, only allowing its opponent to take two shots by the halftime break.
Junior forward
Alex Darrah recorded the second Leopard goal at 41:58 in the third quarter. The Norwalk, Conn. native cleaned up a shot by Good after it made its way to the goal line behind Holy Cross' goalkeeper.
India Ralph led the defensive unit for the remainder of the match to hold the Crusaders to four shots total over 60 minutes, the lowest of the season.
The Leopards held the advantage in total shots (17-4) and penalty corners (9-2).
Lafayette's sophomore goalkeeper
Raffi Fragomeni made two saves in the victory. Her Crusader counterpart, Brooke Ross, made eight.
The Leopards host Colgate and Drexel back-to-back on Oct. 7 and 8.
