EASTON, Pa. – Lafayette freshman Michael Vaughn has been named the Patriot League Football Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday. The defensive lineman recorded four tackles, including two sacks, in the Leopards' 19-14 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday.

Vaughn and the Leopards' defense limited Sacred Heart to 254 yards of total offense (116 rushing, 138 passing yards). The rookie from the Clinton, Md. contributed two of the Leopards' three sacks in the season-opening win and was among a several Lafayette freshmen who saw significant time on the defensive line, including Jaylon Joseph, De'Marion McCoy and Darien Riley.   

Lafayette (1-0) travels to Duke for a week two matchup at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
