Three Second-Half Goals Propel Leopards to Second Straight Win

Biegon’s goal in the 76th minute won the match

EASTON Pa. - Tuesday's men's soccer matchup at Gummeson Grounds: Home of Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium ended in a 3-1 win for Lafayette over Le Moyne.

Freshman Roy Biegon's goal broke the deadlock with 14 minutes to play.

Junior Lawrence Aydeltt had the best chance of the first half for the Leopards. Aydlett found himself with room on the left side of Le Moyne's penalty area. He struck a left-footed shot that was deflected out for a Lafayette corner.

In the 42nd minute, Felix Ludemann put Le Moyne on the board. Noah Sperduto drove in towards the Leopards' penalty area. Sperduto squared the ball back across the box which Ludemann tapped home.

The remainder of the first half showcased a battle in midfield by both teams. Going into the break, the score remained 1-0 in favor of Le Moyne.

In the second half of play, Lafayette found its rhythm. Just four minutes into the second half, Lafayette won a penalty which senior captain Hale Lombard dispatched into the top right corner of Matthew Gera's goal.

The home side began to throw more numbers forward as time grew on.

In the 76th minute, Biegon opened his collegiate account with an important goal. Sophomore Connor DeAngelis found Biegon striding into the box. Biegon took two touches to control the ball and smashed home a left-footed effort from eight yards out and ran to the bench in jubilation.

The Leopards put the game away in the 86th minute. Lombard won a penalty and graciously handed the ball over to fellow senior David Mizrahi to take the kick. Mizrahi calmly stroked the ball to the same spot as Lombard did to bring the score to 3-1.

Tuesday night's win brings Lafayette's record to 2-0-2, leaving the Leopards undefeated on the season thus far.

Lafayette is back on the pitch at 6 p.m. on Saturday when it will face Binghamton on the road.
